Repertoire:

Musica Ficta specializes in early vocal music, polyphony as well as madrigals and medieval music. Using the polyphonic experience and the sound and clarity demanded by this music as a point of departure, Bo Holten and his singers have also proceeded to other periods, not least the romantic. All in all Musica Ficta's activities spans a wide register, focusing on introducing the rare and less known repertoire set in a thematic frame.
Here is a selection of early music repertoire with links to further information:

:
Singing nuns and ladies from around 1200
- a programme combining Notre Dame repertoire performed by women, with women trouvère repertoire from medieval France.

Le Donne di Ferrara - a recreation of the most illustrious ensemble of the late renaissance: The idolized trio of ladies at the court of Alfonso II in the 1590's, to whom was composed an amazing amount of music.

Ascanio Mayone
at the Copenhagen Renaissance Music Festival 2009 Musica Ficta presented the complete Ascanio Mayone: Il primo libro di madrigali a cinque voci, - which since then has been part of the ensemble repertoire. The 2009 festival introduced a full portrait of this neapolitan harpist, organist and composer (1565-1627). Read more at thefestival website or look for the Ascanio Mayone Society website.

The European viewpoint:
A series of 13 concerts, each focusing on a court or metropol of 1600th century Europe. The programmes illuminates how the strong pan-european polyphonic tradition didn't result in conformity, but instead inspired a great flourishing of national styles, both sacred and secular.

The versatile Lassus:
Three programmes spanning the surprisingly many sides of this composer genius: 1)The light-hearted Lassus 2) Lassus with pomp and splendour 3) The late Lassus (Lagrime di San Pietro)

1000 years of Danish music
